Personal health budgets
The NHS is gradually introducing personal health budgets to help people with long-term conditions and disabilities manage their care in a way that suits them.
This follows a pilot study in a number of places across England, which showed that public health budgets improve people’s quality of life.
On 1 April 2014, patients receiving NHS continuing healthcare (CHC) were the first group eligible for a personal health budget.
