NSCP (North Somerset Community Partnership) would like to update you on the latest progress with North Somerset Community Hospital (NSCH) in Clevedon:
The prime purpose of the project of works and associated hospital closure was to ensure the building met the relevant legislative requirements following the CQC inspection which identified specific compliance issues.
While the unit will be redecorated and have some new equipment, much of the work has been on things you won't see - it is in the fabric of the hospital - behind the walls, under the floors and above the ceiling.
The Inpatient Unit is located in an old building and this has been part of the reason why the project has taken longer than initially anticipated. The project was delayed for many months while asbestos was removed, which again, is not a difference you will be able to see, but once discovered we had a duty to our patients and staff to ensure it was properly removed from the building.
The final phase of works is now underway and we are aiming to be in a position to reopen around late November or early December - nearer to this time we will be able to give a more exact date.
